Behind on the books and hoping no one notices?
For most small business owners, bookkeeping slides. There is always something more pressing. Then VAT quarter arrives, or the accountant asks for year-end records, and the catch-up begins. It is rarely catastrophic — but it costs time, sometimes money, and usually some sleep.
- Books several months behind and no clear picture of where you stand
- VAT return preparation turning into a frantic weekend of reconciliation
- Bank statements unmatched, receipts missing, figures you would not trust
What clean books actually look like
Current, reconciled records mean your VAT is ready before the deadline, your figures are usable when decisions need making, and the annual accounts take hours rather than weeks.
- Monthly reconciliation done — you always know where the numbers stand
- VAT records prepared throughout the quarter, not assembled at the last minute
- Bank feeds matched and receipts categorised — nothing left to reconstruct
- Tailored fee scoped to your business — confirmed before anything starts
What bookkeeping clients say
Three verified Google reviews, all five stars. Different businesses, same experience — books in order and considerably less to worry about.
I switched accountants to work with Annabel because I felt she truly cared about helping businesses to take control of their finances. She opened my eyes to how an accountant actually should work with you! She has fixed so many lazy, unprofessional mistakes by my old accountant by being so meticulously thorough, offering amazing business advice & has saved me thousands! She even went through my dad’s accounts who had been through liquidation & had a really tough time just because she cared & wanted to see if she could help. I 100% trust Annabel & she proves time & time again why it was the best move for my business to switch to her. I highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for someone who genuinely cares, who is meticulously thorough & offers great advice!
I have recently had the pleasure of the wonderful service of Annabel, appointed as my bookkeeper and accountant. Having never been self employed or a limited company before, the support and advice I have had has been extremely helpful and has set my mind at ease knowing that any problems or queries I have will be handled or answered. Friendly, supportive and very quick to respond to any queries or sort advice. I would 100% recommend.
Bookkeeping that earns its fee
Monthly cloud bookkeeping via Xero — accurate, current and ready for VAT, payroll and year-end whenever they arrive.
Monthly Reconciliation via Xero
Bank feeds connected, transactions categorised and accounts reconciled every month. Nothing is left unmatched for the accountant to sort out later. Your records are usable the moment you open them.
Included as standardVAT-Ready Records, Every Quarter
Bookkeeping kept current means VAT preparation is a check, not an exercise. Records are clean and categorised in line with your VAT scheme before the quarter closes. No last-minute scrambles.
Included as standardYear-End Ready, All Year
When year-end comes, the books are already in order. Statutory accounts and Corporation Tax take significantly less time — and cost less — when the underlying records have been maintained properly throughout. That saving compounds each year.
Included as standardAcross different businesses, the same result
Scale-ups, start-ups and businesses switching accountants — the common thread is books in order and an accountant who is straightforward to deal with.
Changed Accountants, Saved Thousands Already

Switching Accountants Made Simple

Not just ticking the bookkeeping box
Accurate records are the starting point. What matters is what those records tell you — and what you do next.
Books That Are Actually Current
Bookkeeping delivered monthly, not when the deadline forces it. Xero bank feeds are connected and reconciled throughout the month, so the figures are there when you need them — not six weeks later. That is a more useful set of books than most small businesses have.
Plain English, Not Spreadsheet Dumps
Every set of records comes with a clear picture of where things stand. No jargon, no unexplained categories, no figures you would need an accountant to translate. If something looks unusual, it gets flagged before it becomes a problem.
Award-Winning, AAT Licensed Practice
South England Prestige Awards Winner 2025/26, AAT Licensed Accountant (licence no. 1008354) and Cyber Essentials Certified. Regulated, insured and operating to professional standards — not a self-styled bookkeeping service. Every enquiry is reviewed personally by Annabel.
Up and running in three steps
The onboarding process is handled by Annabel. Your job is to answer a few questions and connect your bank. The rest follows.
Free discovery call
A 20-30 minute call — no scripts, no pitch. Annabel asks about your business, your current setup and where the books stand. You get an honest picture of what is needed, whether or not you become a client.
Proposal scoped to you
A clear proposal built around your specific situation — not a template tier. Scoped to what your business actually needs, with a confirmed fee and no surprises. You decide whether to proceed.
Handover handled for you
Xero is set up or connected, bank feeds are activated and any historical catch-up is scoped and managed. If you are switching from another accountant or another system, the transition is handled entirely by Annabel. You do very little.
Books in order, every month
From the first month, reconciliation happens on schedule. VAT records are maintained throughout each quarter. Year-end arrives without the usual scramble. You open Xero and the figures make sense — which is, frankly, how it should be.
“Working with Annabel has been fantastic. She has made the whole process of changing accountants so smooth and stress-free. Her step-by-step guidance and clear communication made everything easy to follow, even for someone who does not naturally “speak accounts.” Annabel’s energy, passion, and genuine desire to help people understand their business finances really shine through in everything she does. Her support and knowledge have been superb, and I now see her as a vital part of my business and its continued growth. Thank you, Annabel, for all your help; you truly live up to your company name!”
Things people usually ask before getting in touch
Do you just do the data entry, or does the bookkeeping come with any actual insight?
The bookkeeping is kept current in Xero with monthly reconciliation, bank feed matching and categorisation. Where something looks unusual — an unexplained transaction, an expense that needs querying, a margin that has shifted — it gets flagged. The records are there to be used, not just filed.
How is the fee worked out, and what is included?
Fees are scoped individually after the discovery call, based on your transaction volume, VAT obligations and what your business actually needs. There is no standard tier. The proposal is clear about what is covered and at what cost — no add-ons that appear later. Pricing is not published on the site; the call takes around 20 minutes and the proposal follows.
My books are behind. Can you take that on, or do I need to sort it first?
Behind books are common, particularly when switching from a previous accountant or when the business has grown faster than the admin kept up with. A catch-up scope is assessed during onboarding. The cost and timescale are confirmed before anything starts, so there are no surprises. You do not need to sort it before getting in touch.
Is there a minimum contract or a penalty if I want to leave?
There is no long-term contract. If after three months it is not working for any reason, you leave with clean, up-to-date books and nothing further owed. The expectation is that the work speaks for itself — not that a contract makes leaving difficult.
Do you work with businesses outside Bournemouth and Dorset?
Yes. The practice is cloud-based via Xero, so onboarding, reconciliation and client communication all happen remotely. Clients are based across Dorset, Hampshire and the wider UK. Location has not been a barrier for any client to date.
If the bookkeeping is up to date, does that mean I can see my tax position throughout the year?
It does. Current Xero records mean Corporation Tax liability and VAT position are visible in real time rather than being estimated at year-end. That visibility makes it considerably easier to plan ahead — and considerably less likely that a tax bill arrives as a surprise.
Leave the bookkeeping to someone else.
Monthly Xero bookkeeping, VAT-ready records and an accountant who tells you what the numbers mean. Tailored fee, no contract, reply within one working day.
