Funding Readiness and Business Plan Financials

Funding Readiness & Business Plan Financials

Numbers a lender or investor will actually accept.

You have a plan and a funding gap, but the projections behind it need to stand up to scrutiny from a bank, investor or grant panel. That takes financials built the way people who write cheques expect to see them. Annabel spent sixteen years inside growing businesses, including as a Finance Director, is AAT Licensed, and replies within one working day.

  • Projections and forecasts a funder can interrogate and trust
  • A financial story that matches the plan you are pitching
  • Assumptions you can defend line by line in the room
  • Management information that shows the business is run properly

No promise of a funding outcome, no accountant honestly can make one. What you get is financials that hold up under questioning, and an idea of where yours are weak before someone else finds out.

Sound familiar?

Projections that fall apart under a few questions?

A funding application lives or dies on the numbers behind it. If the forecast is a spreadsheet built to reach a target, a lender or investor will spot it in the first meeting. The problem is rarely the business itself. It is that the financials do not yet tell the story clearly, and the assumptions cannot be defended when someone pushes back.

  • Projections built to hit a number rather than reflect the business
  • No answer ready when a funder asks how you got to a figure
  • Management information too thin to show the business is run well

What funding-ready looks like

Financials built the way people who lend and invest expect to read them. Projections grounded in your actual trading, assumptions you can talk through with confidence, and management information that shows the business is under control. You walk into the room knowing your numbers better than the person across the table.

  • Projections grounded in real trading history and sensible assumptions
  • Every figure traceable, so you can answer the hard questions
  • Management accounts and reporting that show a well-run business
  • Fees scoped to your situation and agreed up front, no surprises

What you get

What goes into a funding-ready pack

Everything a bank, investor or grant panel needs to assess the business properly, built to be read and defended, not just to look tidy.

01

Financial Projections & Forecasts

Profit and loss, cash flow and balance sheet projections built from your actual trading rather than a target you would like to hit. Every assumption is documented, so when a funder asks how you reached a figure, you have a straight answer ready.

Core of the pack
02

The Numbers Behind the Plan

The financial narrative that sits inside your business plan, aligned so the story and the figures say the same thing. This is where Annabel’s Finance Director experience comes in, framing the numbers the way someone assessing risk needs to read them.

FD-level input
03

Management Information That Reassures

Up-to-date management accounts and reporting that show the business is run properly, not steered on the bank balance. A lender or investor takes more comfort in a business that already knows its own numbers month to month.

From switching accountants to setting up a first company, the common thread is straight advice and someone who understands the business, not just the books.

Why work with Next Level

Financials built by someone who has sat on both sides

Funding readiness is a commercial task as much as a technical one. It helps to have prepared numbers for approval, not just from behind a desk.

📊

Built by a former Finance Director

Annabel spent sixteen years inside growing businesses, including as a Finance Director, so she has prepared numbers for banks and boards from the inside. The projections are framed the way someone assessing risk reads them, which is often the difference between a yes and a maybe.

🔍

Assumptions you can defend

A projection is only as good as the thinking behind it. Every figure is documented and traceable, so when a funder pushes on a number in the room, you already know the answer. No guessing under pressure.

💬

Honest about where you stand

If the numbers are not ready, you will hear that before a lender tells you. Annabel reviews every enquiry personally and will say plainly whether the case is strong or where it needs work first. Straight talking is the whole point.

Getting started

Funding-ready in four steps

A clear route from first call to a pack you can put in front of a lender, investor or grant panel with confidence.

1

Free discovery call

A free 20-30 minute call to understand what you are raising, who from, and why. Annabel gives you an honest read on how strong the case looks and what the financials will need to cover.

2

Fixed fee agreed up front

You get a proposal scoped to your specific situation, with a clear fixed fee and no surprises. Nothing starts until you have agreed it.

3

We build the numbers

Using your trading history and the plan, the projections, forecasts and supporting management information are built and documented. You supply the context; the modelling is handled for you.

4

Walk in knowing your numbers

You go into the meeting able to explain and defend every figure, backed by projections that hold up under questioning. Which is a far more comfortable place to be than hoping nobody asks.

Questions

Funding readiness, answered plainly

Will these financials be accepted by a bank, investor or grant panel?+

The projections and management information are built the way lenders, investors and grant assessors expect to read them, with documented assumptions and a clear link to the business plan. Whether an application succeeds depends on the business, the market and the funder, and no accountant can honestly promise an outcome. What you get is numbers that hold up under proper scrutiny.

What does this cost?+

There is no published price, because the work depends on what you are raising and how much of the underlying reporting already exists. Fees are scoped to your situation on the free discovery call and then fixed, so you know the number before anything starts. No surprises and no hourly meter running.

My bookkeeping is behind. Can you still build projections I can use?+

Credible projections need a reliable base to work from, so if the records are behind we will usually sort that first. Annabel will tell you on the call what needs cleaning up and roughly what that involves, so there are no hidden steps. Better to fix the foundation than build a forecast on shaky numbers a funder will question.

Am I locked into a long contract afterwards?+

No. There is no long-term contract, just an initial three-month settling-in period, after which either side can walk away with clean books and nothing outstanding. Plenty of clients start with a funding pack and stay for ongoing management accounts, but that is your choice, not a condition.

Can you help me answer questions in the funding meeting itself?+

Yes. Because the projections are built with documented assumptions, you will already understand how every figure was reached, which is what most funder questions come down to. Annabel can talk you through the likely questions beforehand so you go in prepared rather than hoping the numbers speak for themselves.

Will building this help me run the business better, not just raise money?+

Usually, yes. The forecasting and management information that make a business fundable are the same tools that show you where cash is going and where margin is being lost. Many clients find the exercise useful well beyond the application, whether the funding comes through or not.
