Pricing and Margin Analysis

Pricing and Margin Analysis

See where your profit actually comes from.

Revenue is up, but you have no clear picture of which products, service lines or customers are earning their keep, and which are quietly costing you. Most owners have never seen their own margins broken down. Annabel spent 16 years inside growing businesses, including as a Finance Director, is AAT Licensed, and replies within one working day.

  • Gross margin split by product, service line and customer
  • The work and customers that are quietly losing you money
  • A clear view of where a price rise actually lands
  • Plain-English advice on what to change and why

No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean books and nothing owed.

Opened My Eyes to the Numbers

“She opened my eyes to how an accountant actually should work with you!”

Huttons Hair and Beauty

Sound familiar?

Busy, growing, and none the wiser on profit?

Turnover keeps climbing but the bank balance does not move the way you would expect. You have a rough sense of what sells well, but not what actually makes money once the costs are stripped out. Decisions on pricing and which customers to chase get made on gut feel, because the numbers to answer them properly have never existed.

  • No idea which products or service lines carry the margin
  • Big customers who feel important but may earn you little
  • Prices set years ago and never properly reviewed since

What sorted looks like

You get your gross margin broken down the way it should be: by product, by service line and by customer. Then a straight conversation about what it means and where the easy wins are. This is the kind of analysis a Finance Director runs, brought to a business your size.

  • Margin ranked by product and service line, clearly
  • The customers that make money, and the ones that do not
  • A modelled view of where a price change actually lands
  • Fees scoped to your situation and fixed up front

What you get

What margin analysis actually covers

Three pieces of work that turn a rough sense of what sells into a clear picture of what profits, and what to do about it.

01

Margin by Product and Service Line

See gross margin ranked across everything you sell, not just top-line revenue. The lines that look busy but earn little become obvious, and so do the quiet earners worth pushing. It is often the first time an owner has seen this for their own business.

Where the profit is
02

Profitability by Customer

Some customers feel important because they are big. Once servicing costs, discounts and time are factored in, the picture can change. You get a clear view of which relationships are worth protecting and which need a rethink.

Who earns their keep
03

Pricing Decisions, Modelled

Before you change a price, see what it does to the bottom line at different volumes. Annabel models the effect so a rise is a decision, not a guess. You go in knowing what you can move and what the numbers will bear.

Owners who now understand their numbers

From salons to first-time company directors, the common thread is the same: clearer numbers and advice that helps the business, not just the tax return.

Why work with Next Level

Analysis from someone who has run the numbers before

Margin work is only as good as the person reading it. This is the difference between a report and a decision.

📊

A Finance Director’s Eye

Annabel spent 16 years inside growing businesses, including as a Finance Director, doing exactly this kind of analysis at board level. She has sat on your side of the desk. The read on your numbers is commercial, not academic.

💬

Numbers You Can Actually Use

No dense spreadsheets left for you to decode. You get the margin picture explained in plain English, with a clear steer on what to do next. The point is a decision, not a document.

📈

Tied to How You Run the Business

Margin analysis works best alongside monthly management accounts, so you can watch the effect of changes rather than guess at them. Everything connects, from the numbers to the pricing decision to the result next month.

Getting started

From guesswork to clear margins in four steps

Starting is simple. You bring the questions you have never been able to answer, and Annabel does the digging.

1

Book a Free Call

A free 20 to 30 minute call to talk through your business, what you sell and where you suspect the profit is leaking. No script, no pitch deck. You get honest thoughts whether you go ahead or not.

2

Scope and Fixed Fee

Annabel scopes the analysis to your situation and agrees a fixed fee up front. You know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before anything begins. No surprises later.

3

We Do the Digging

Your figures are pulled from Xero and worked through by Annabel, not handed to a junior. If the data needs tidying first, that is flagged before we start. You mostly carry on running the business.

4

You Know Where the Profit Is

You sit down to a clear breakdown of margin by product, service line and customer, with straight advice on what to change. Pricing and customer decisions stop being guesswork. That tends to be the moment the fog lifts.

Questions

Fair questions before you get in touch

Can you really break my margin down by product, service line or customer?+

Yes, provided the underlying data supports it. If your Xero is coded so that costs sit against the right products or categories, the analysis is straightforward. If it is not yet set up that way, Annabel will flag what needs tidying first, so the figures you act on are sound rather than misleading.

What does margin analysis cost?+

There is no fixed price list, because the work depends on how many product or service lines you have and the state of your records. Fees are scoped to your situation on the free discovery call, then agreed as a fixed amount up front. You will not be surprised by the bill.

My books are a bit of a mess. Can you still do this?+

Often, but honest first: if the underlying data is unreliable, the margin analysis will be too. In that case Annabel will usually recommend a tidy-up first, scoped and priced separately, so the numbers you make decisions on are actually right. It is better to spend a little getting the data straight than to price off figures that are wrong.

Am I tied into a long contract?+

No. There is an initial three-month settling-in period, after which either side can walk away with clean books and nothing outstanding. The idea is that you stay because the work is useful, not because you are locked in.

Will this actually help me set prices, or just tell me what happened?+

Both. The analysis shows where you stand today, then Annabel models what a price change would do at different volumes, so you can see the effect before you commit. You go into a pricing decision knowing what the numbers will bear rather than guessing.

Does this work alongside my ongoing accounts?+

It works best that way. Margin analysis paired with monthly management accounts means you can watch the effect of a change month by month, rather than running a one-off report and hoping. Everything connects to how the business is actually performing.
